I just look out of them and judge the weather myself. If I needed longer forecast I guess weather apps would be useful.
Thereβs some good options here:

LOL. I used to use a weather app, but since it failed me more than thrice, iβve gone the same route as the OP.
Iβll see what happens. Usually, iβm prepared.
Weather knowledge and forecasting is required in my job and when early in my career I had courses about that I quickly realised forecasts for more than 48 h had more in common with fortune telling than science The problem is all the variables. You can have a certitude on the trend but thereβs so much stuff influencing weather, especially time wise.
About the apps itβs better if thereβs a human forecaster behind. A lot of apps use one or more models and just go with the result. A human will compare models and sometimes discard some. His/her experience and knowledge about the region will also add to the precision. Being closer from the weather instruments will also help.
@Eltuxo you can try the app of the IRM/KMI, itβs pretty accurate. I use it to check when Iβll be walking the dog and not get soaked
Thank you very much for the info. Iβll do that.
Eyewitness Weather! LOL
Come winter, look at radar of the Great Lakes during a βlake effectβ snow. The radar history will show the snow forming above the lakes and pluming off to the east, usually, dumping the snow. A very stationary snow machine.
The predictive radar will show the whole thing moving east as if it were a regular storm. Itβs quite funny and a good example of your point: Location and experience is essential to usefully forecasting weather.
