So seems to me that there are two options for removing the bloat that some think essential for modern operating systems.
LX-Qt builds on top of a minimal base that can run any KDE apps if needed in the Qt environment.
The other way could be to go back to an earlier version of KDE before they added all the extras and back port a few essentials while holding onto the original look and feel.
I am hoping they succeed. The first version of KDE predated my experience with Linux and am interested in what the stable release will be like.
