My ThinkPad X1 Yoga won’t boot with a dock attached

I use a Cable Matters USB 3.1 docking station. I don’t have another hub or dock to try, unfortunately.

It seems to be a GRUB thing because when I installed rEFInd, it works normally. I also tried without a dock (using a laptop charger instead), and that works fine, too.

I’m unable to apply firmware updates because of that issue until I tried just a laptop charger, but that’s before I tried rEFInd.

Any idea what changed?
