One way around the annoying ads in Youtube is to watch through Midori Browser.
There is a message saying Youtube won’t be supporting such a browser soon. That message has been up for a very long time. The downside is that performance of the browser is a bit buggy – the kind of bugs that one puts up with for the convenience. The most unpredictable bug being that in Full-Screen mode it might stall.
On Firefox I use an extension called Enhancer for Youtube. It works very well removing ads but also enable custom settings.

uBlock Origin is what I use on Firefox or Chrome and you will not see any ads on Youtube with great performance unlike Midori.
