Low-Latency Kernel Preferable?

I’ll be spending a lot of spare time this month doing initial setup of a workstation that will serve for live-streaming teaching sessions, audio editing, and video creation. Normally I run Ubuntu Mate (whatever the current LTS point-version happens to be).

Am I better off installing a low-latency-kernel distro for this endeavor? If so, does Ubuntu Studio qualify as “low latency”? Thanks in advance.

Ubuntu studio installs with the low latency kernel out of the box. You can install this kernel on any Ubuntu distro though, so if you like Mate then stick with it. You can use the Ubuntu Studio script that installs the Ubuntu studio packages on top of any other Ubuntu installation you already have. Its pretty slick.

Ubuntu Studio is the very thing you want.
