Just thought I would share some games that I enjoyed and some games that I waiting expectantly for release on Steam.
Lonely Mountain Downhill
Don’t know if anyone else has played Lonely Mountain Downhill, which is one of my favourite single player releases of the last few years. It was released as a Linux Native on Steam and should play great on the SteamDeck.
Lonely Mountain: Snow Riders
The studio who released Lonely Mountain Downhill is taking the concept into Skiing for their next game, Lonely Mountain: Snow Riders.
Horizon Chase Turbo
Got a lot of enjoyment out of Horizon Chase which had a native Linux version on Steam, if you like your racing games to be retro,
This one can be played Single player or Splitscreen.
So Horizon Chase is both a Highlight for me and a big disappointment because Horizon Chase 2, which I was very excited about was locked to Apple Arcade for the first year. Two years later it is released on PC only to be locked to Epic Games.
The Brazilian studio that released this game has now been bought out by Epic so chances of us getting a native Linux release are pretty much Nil.
But for those who like to dream…
System 3, Last Ninja 1-3
Hopefully coming to Steam in next few years for all you C64 fans. Hopeful but expecting to be disappointed…
So system 3 is a studio that would be well known to anyone who spent a lot of time with Commodore 64 gaming.
They are still an independent company after all this time which is commendable when you look at the Games Market now.
The tale of Last Ninja 4 is longer then the Half Life 3 saga, but while we are waiting to see if Last Ninja 4 will be a thing in our lifetimes, they are rereleasing Last Ninja 1, 2 and 3, and also International Karate series for PS4, PS5 and PC.
(Hopefully on Steam)
Found this interview with Mark Cale, the cofounder of System 3, which covers the history of System 3 and the Last Ninja series. Also IK+ which was my favourite fighting game of the C64 period.
(Bit disappointed they are not including Myth in the pack they are releasing but you can’t get everything you want)
