What are some good linux conferences for basic desktop users who want to meet other people and learn more about linux?
The only one I know of is SELF ( South East Linux Fest ), but it is usually held on the same weekend as Fathers Day, so Iāve never been able to participate. I love Linux, but I love my family more.
Iām sure there are others.
Yes, that is one of the ones I was thinking about trying. It is only 2-3 hours from my house. I just checked and SELF 2020 is being held June 12-14, while Fatherās Day is June 21. It would be great to meet you there since they do not overlap this year!
Itās a deal. Iāll be there and Iāll the one wearing a Linux t-shirt.
I think you may be lost in a crowed of Linux āTā Shirts
I certainly hope so.
On the left coast there is a Southern California Linux Expo in March.

That one may be a bit far from home, I live on the east coast!
If i can swing SELF this year I will be there. The only other one that is reasonably close is Texas Linux Fest which Iāve heard good things about.
I would love to visit FOSDEM, especially with Pine64! But I donāt think I can.
If I could I definitely will.

Cool, Thanks!
I might just see myself travelling to LAX for thisā¦
So it turns out that SELF is virtual thanks to Corona. But I will be attending, volunteering and speaking.
Thanks for posting this. Thereās quite a few talks Iām very interested in.
Happy to help! I hope to see you there.
Iāll be there. Iāll be the one wearing a Linux t-shirt ( probably a DLN flavor ).
lol
Does anyone have the SELF schedule for 2021? Or any other current info? I got on #southeastlinuxfest on Libra IRC but nobody is there. Am I on the āwrongā IRC?
