RE: FreeCad

For floor planning you would be better off using SweetHome3D which allows you to draw a floor plan and place objects walls surfaces and texture and visualise it in 3D

Their Channel

You can easily knock up shapes and objects either in Wings3D

or even Google’s Blocks.

And then import them as furniture into SweetHiome3D

FreeCad Is very sophisticated and a parametric modelling program so it needs a programming mindset as you are , describing a model rather than shaping it.

But a very short simple first tutorial can be found here:

Have fun!

Instead of FreeCad why not Blender ?

Here is some CAD modeling in Blender

Blender’s tool’s and possibilities are endless.
Here is the search i got from YouTube

Thanks, @veritanuda and @Definitive_Linux I will look into those options. I’ve gotten busy enough (sorry it took me so long to respond here) that I haven’t even played with FreeCAD more. However, the new guinea pig cage is built!
