Amazon Luna Controller stopped working in Linux Mint

My Amazon Luna controller is no longer working in Linux Mint. I only use it through USB cable so its not about batteries, bluetooth, or wifi settings. Yesterday, I played a game with the controller with no issues and all of the sudden today it is not working. Since last playing, I updated my Linux Mint install yesterday and this morning, that is highly likely the cause of the issue.

Note: yes I have posted this on the Linux Mint forum but someone here might know

Steps I took:

  • Searched online via duckduckgo and Google, and I also tried some AI stuff to see if it would find anything on the subject. It seems to be a brand new problem so there is no prior info on it.
  • I have multiple controllers (3), I have tried all 3 and they all have the same problem of not connecting over USB. One of them was literally still in the box and it failed to connect to.
  • i tried updating the firmware on one of the controllers through the Amazon Luna controller phone app and that had no affect.
  • I tried resetting the controller = no affect.
  • I tried connecting it through multiple different ports

I ran lsusb:
It does not show the Amazon controller in the output. It shows other devices that I recognize and also a bunch of “Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub” entries but based on my research that is normal.

I ran dmesg | grep -i usb:
The Amazon Luna controller is recognized here so at least I know it is seen by the system but beyond that nothing else sees it.

Here is the details from grepping my dpkg.log file for what I installed and updated since it worked:

update, new day and now works…nothing really changed. I dont know what the problem was or what the solution was. Chalk it up to “meh computers”

There are some beautiful wallpapers, look for

mint-artwork in the repo and find all the packages for the

T

series, version 19 through 19.3

Or download this archive of all Linux Mint wallpapers

I really love the coffee wallpaper, it is HUGE, about 7900 x 4400

I applied a cool conical gradient in gimp, it takes several minutes to process each effect, I had to speed up my processor so it wouldn’t take what seemed like 10 minutes. I got it down to a few minutes.

A radial blur is a good fit for this as well, especially for the steel and the beans near the edges.

I also edited the Windows 2000 coffee bean bitmap and colorized it to match, so it wouldn’t have the blue spots on it, just red-brown tones.

what relevance does this have for this thread?

Relavance and staying on topic is over-rated, you know that, being on a podcast the every single time goes off-topic, so what’s the big idea?

You mentioned Linux Mint and I want to share the 19 release wallpapers, with you and anyone else who reads this, they are incredible and I want them to get more exposure.

Sure I’ll make a new thread, I see your point.
