398: Open Source Strikes Back Against Patent Trolls!

Actually, you don’t need a billion parameter model to find your missing semicolons in code. This problem has been alright solved decades ago and every modern code editor/IDE now has syntax checks integrated. In over 15 years of coding, I can count the number of minutes on one hand that I wasted on finding missing semicolons and similar issues.

What I still find those models most useful for is text generation. Using them as a brainstorming machine, taking away the fear of the blank page, finding alternative formulations, or translating a sloppy written brain dump into professional language.
