My notes;
- Firmware updates: best advice is to buy a device supported by the Linux Vendor Firmware Service (aka fwupd). You can search for the device you consider buying here: LVFS: Device List and if it is listed as supported then you will be able to update your firmware under Linux. BTW - we don’t call this BIOS anymore - especially since UEFI has replaced [PC BIOS](as the API for operating systems to be started on PC hardware).
- Linux MAINTAINERS: I have no opinion about the sanctions (though Greg KH had additional comments on lkml, probably later than the release of this episodes, that shed more light) - but I like Linus’ comments - you really shouldn’t mess with Fins when it comes to Russian apologetics.
