Microsoft upcoming ARM processor and Linux?

Following from Apple’s M1 announcement a few weeks ago, interesting news today that’s been hitting Intel and AMD stock prices, apparently, is that Microsoft may be developing its own ARM processor for use with Azure and possibly Surface devices.

I have no interest in running either Windows or MacOS unless I absolutely have to; currently for Windows that’s when I’m using Kindle as I’ve heavily invested in a library of texts over the years and am locked-in, pretty-much; MacOS I don’t touch and won’t unless I have to use it for development for their OSes including iOS.

What does interest me, is the status of Linux distros that have ported to ARM already and how well they’re doing, though I still maintain RISC-V is the way to go for open communities…

I wonder what others in the community think of all of this?
