Article: BBCNews - IBM 2nm chip breakthrough claims more power with less energy
This might be old news already but I just wanted to share this with my fellow hardware enthusiast. Being that it is 2nm is insane from the present 7nm; but, best part, for me at least, is the environmental impact! IBM shares that this could make phones not requiring a charge update for days!
The social and environmental implications for this are gigantic! I’m so excited.
Fantastic! I don’t usually think of IBM in terms cutting edge technology so this is cool.
I used to have a phone that didn’t need charging for days at a time back in 2007. It’s kind funny to think that this is an advancement now.
Yes, mind-boggling developments on the hardware side of things, though software is my own interest!
I’m wondering what kind of chip it was, It mentioned mobile phone so maybe ARM based? Be nice it were a risc v desktop chip but that just me dreaming.
