It’s a combination rather of crap coming out of China, and a complete ignorance of the people, using said crap regarding security and privacy.
Most are happy with “Ah, it works! I can see who’s at my door when i’m (enter location here)”. Mind boggling attitude if you ask me.
Never understood that.
