DuckDuckGo now engaging in censorship

I see this all the time these days. I will be searching for something and find the same word for word article on a dozen websites with a slightly different title, just enough to make you think it might be a different article.

This is a real thing. Even within the same news outlet they might publish an article with a different headline based on your geographical location and what gets more clicks in your area.

After having read some articles about it, it is clear that DDG is not censoring though they are “downgrading” some information they think is not appropriate.

Seems to depend on which dictionary you use. “Censor” could mean delete/erase or it could mean suppress. If you suppress something to the 5th page of results you may as well delete it considering how many people will ever see it.

Now that the dust has settled on this I’d like to see some objective information. I never noticed anything change.

Suppressing results based on political content is a clear sign of censorship.
