AskNoahShow 259 - TINC And its Uses (What does it do?)

On the show this week I heard Steve mention TINC which he apparently uses with a discount virtual host to communicate between locations. I’ve read about Tinc at its website but I don’t fully understand what TINC allows - it is something about allowing computers that are in different locations to contact either other by getting around the NAT traversal (IP address) issues?

For example I use nomachine as a remote control method between my machines at home, but I am not able to use it between locations because of the NAT traversal issues. Does TINC solve that problem somehow, or does it do something else (at least in the way that Steve was referencing it)?

Thanks very much
